Prarotto - 2021

Writer's picture: Davide DimacDavide Dimac

Cycling tour from Grugliasco to Prarotto. Cloudy day from early morning, but no risk of rain. Warm temperature typical of the season period.

A bit of traffic till Avigliana, then took the cycle route to join the road that leads to Condove. Snack eaten on the fly before starting the climb.

First part not difficult, but to be approached quietly and at a constant rhythm to save energy for the second and final part. During the ascent met several cyclists on road bikes, also in small groups, going up or down the road.

From Frassinere onwards the last section begins and the climb becomes harder, with a significant constant slope up to the top. Met several MTBs almost always in pairs, probably came to try out the many trails in the area.

Arrived at the top, cloudy but not cold weather. Possible to see the Sacra of San Michele in the distance, but not Torino due to too much haze. Several groups of cyclists stopped for a quick break before continuing on the gravel tracks that branch off from the chapel Madonna della Neve.

During the downhill, stopped many times to take some photos of the beautiful panorama that could be seen along the road. Fast descent but with many bends where it is better to be careful.

Back in Condove there were high temperatures and bright sunshine. Return flat part done at full speed, following a passing group of cyclists.
