Pian dell'Alpe - 2020

Updated: Oct 24, 2020

Cycling tour from Grugliasco to Pian dell'Alpe. The forecast indicated a very hot day, so better to leave early in the morning. Low traffic up to Pinerolo, where I stopped to fill the bottle before the long climb. On the road towards Sestriere, many cars and motorbikes.

It's better to face the climb at a constant rate, without pushing but enjoying the amazing panorama around and carefully dosing the water to avoid stopping instead. In any case, there are many water fountains along the route. Once in Fenestrelle, the tough climb begins. First just a few bends, then it constantly increases more and more from Pourriex onwards.

Lunch as usual at the Alpe Pintas restaurant, near the peak and with a wonderful view of the valley below. The homemade yogurt with homemade jam is awesome. At lunchtime was completely full, with many people coming to eat something after walking the trails in the morning.
