Pian del Frais - 2021

Writer's picture: Davide DimacDavide Dimac

Cycling tour from Grugliasco to Pian del Frais. Sunny day in the morning, which then became very cloudy when arriving in Susa and during the climb. A lot of traffic on the roads leading to Susa.

The first part of the climb is very hard, with a slope over 10%. Luckily there were some clouds to cover the sun, otherwise it would have been very very hot. The start of the climb should be approached slowly and without pushing too hard, otherwise all the energy runs out immediately.

After the junction for Meana, the climb becomes more steady and the ten hairpin bends begin up to Madonna della Losa. Hardly met anyone on the climb, just a couple of cyclists coming down. The road in the last section was wet from the rain the night before.

Arrived at the top, initially a little sunshine then it became quite cloudy (although there was no risk of rain). Lunch as usual at the Locanda Assietta, close to the ski facilities. Restaurant completely empty, the owner tells me there are just few people around in the village. Excellent and plentiful dishes.

After descending to Susa it was warm again, but still cloudy.
