Forte Santa Chiara - 2020

Writer's picture: Davide DimacDavide Dimac

Cycling tour from Grugliasco to Santa Chiara. In the morning heavy storm, then good weather came out. No cyclist around, met only a few in the late afternoon.

Regular cycling up to the entrance in Val Susa, then strong headwind (almost couldn't pedaling). Reaching Susa was quite a challenge because, even though constantly pedaling, the bike was almost stuck on the road.

Arrived in Susa, quick break and then started the climb (warm but breezy). From Borgata Cresto the climb becomes very steep and requires a very agile gear. Luckily the road is all in the shade of the forest.

From the top the whole Val Susa was visible, up to the hill of Torino. Probably thanks to the excellent visibility for the wind. Stopped for a snack at the Agriturismo Meizoun de Barbamarc.

On the descent, in the shade of the trees, it was quite cool. From Susa forward, cycling very fast since this time the strong wind was in favor.
