Adrit - 2021

Writer's picture: Davide DimacDavide Dimac

Cycling tour from Grugliasco to Adrit. Hot day but strong wind from the west. Cycling towards Avigliana and then in Val Susa was quite tough. Quite some traffic for being Sunday, probably due to the fact that it has been bad weather all week. Many cyclists and runners around that went to the mountains to enjoy the beautiful day.

The headwind lasted the entire way up, from the start until the last sections of the climb. No heat suffered even though the sun was strong. Flat section done at a constant rhythm and calmly (given the headwind), trying to avoid spending all the energy needed for the ascent.

Climb made without pushing too much and trying to use light bicycle gears. Slowing down in the windy sections and relaxing a bit in the less rough ones.

Arrived at the top, both the fountains were closed and there was no one around. Just lots of parked cars. Having a snack looking the beautiful panorama of the valley below, with the Sacra of San Michele and Torino in the distance. Outstanding visibility due to wind that carried away the clouds and the haze of the past few days.

Cold downhill, with sections in the shade of the woods and parts exposed to the cool wind. The return was quite easy and very fast: strong tailwind thanks to which the speed was constantly around 40 km/h.
